Tips
on Helping Wildlife in Our Area

Did you know you can help wildlife in your
everyday activities? Many critters are
killed or mutilated every day by common, household items. What
can you do to help prevent these tragedies?
- When you are out fishing or just taking a
walk at the neighborhood fishing pond or lake, remove any
fishing line, hooks, or sinkers you see discarded.
- Before you throw away those plastic rings
that keep six-packs of soda together, cut them to prevent
animals from getting caught in them. Even though you
always throw yours away in the garbage, wild animals can
be killed just as easily at your local landfill as at the
beach or park.
- Yoplait yogurt containers are deadly to
furry critters. The shape of the container, smaller at
the neck than at the bottom, is just right for getting
heads in-but not out. Be sure to totally crush these
containers or cut them up.
